Harrisburg – Pennsylvania’s Middle District United States Attorney’s Office announced that Shelley A. Dreyer-Aurila, from New Bloomfield, Pennsylvania, age 55, the previous Perry County Family Center’s Executive Director, was sentenced on 28th April 2021 to an imprisonment term of one year and three months by Sylvia H. Rambo, U.S. District Court Judge, for misappropriation of funds involving federally-funded programs.
As per Bruce D. Brandler, the Acting United States Attorney, Shelly Dreyer-Aurila earlier confessed that from 2010 to 2017, she misappropriated and converted to her personal use over 150,000 U.S. dollars that was under the control and care of the Perry County Family Center. During that duration, the Perry County Family Center annually obtained over 10,000 U.S. dollars in federal grants from the United States Health & Human Services Department, via the Pennsylvania Health & Human Services Department, to finance programs such as its Infant, Maternal, and Early Childhood Home Visiting program and their Child Abuse Prevention program.
Shelley Dreyer-Aurila was further directed to reimburse 127,764.56 U.S. dollars in restitution. She had prior repaid 22,520 U.S. dollars.
The case’s investigation was carried out by the Pennsylvania Department of State – Bureau of Enforcement & Investigation, Charitable Investigation Unit. The United States Assistant Attorney Carlo D. Marchioli and previous U.S. Assistant Attorney James T. Clancy handled the matter’s prosecution.
